Starting to get a little frustrated..

So here is my third post. It has taken a few extra days since I have been working a lot lately. I have been working at my school job and then tiling in the evening, almost every night for the past 2 weeks. I am a bit frustrated that I can not seem to figure out how to drive traffic to my blog. I have researched it and one thing that I seem to need a site map but can't seem to be able to produce one. I guess I'll still keep at it.

I have posted some info on a couple of other places including a blog carnival and I believe that I have my ads up and running correctly. Traffic is what I need.

So far donations to date..still $1.00 that I donated to myself.

I will write more tomorrow, now I am back off to work.

Day 2 - already quite a ride!

So here it is day two and I am sitting here all day thinking about what the next step needs to be. Obviously, to get to $1,000,000.00 I need alot of people to view my site and I need to find ways to generate additional income. I have added some PPC (pay per click) advertisements. I had never heard of these before last night and have done significant research on them. Even so, I still am a bit confused about how to integrate them into my blog.


I have also submitted my first post to a blog carnival. Honestly there are so many terms that my head is spinning. My whole goal here is to increase traffic to this site which has yet to generate any. I think I will be emailing this link to everyone I know and asking them to forward this link to everyone they know. Hopefully I can get something of a chain reaction and get some viewers. Word of mouth is a good thing you know.


I hav also considered adding information for collecting donations via paypal. I will hopefully figure that out in the next few days. I need to also add my address so if anyone wants to mail me $1.00 directly. I will probably put that into my profile as well as one the bottom of the page somehow.


I have spent the day thinking about advertising on sites such as craigslist and ebay - selling certificates to people for $1.00 saying that they have just helped to make someone a millionaire, and more importantly have donated $.75 to charity. Of course if someone wanted to donate more 75% of their donation will be given to charity.


My wife asked me last night what charity I was going to doante to. To be honest, my first thought was to donate it to a charity that will help children in some manner. Something like the Boys and Girls Club of America. I will do some more research and see what makes the most sense. With a lot of charities, the majority of money does not go directly to serving children.


My wife also asked about tax implications of possibly getting such a large amount of money from people. Tax season is here and when I get my taxes done, I will ask that question. My thought is that in most places you can get no more than $10,000 in donations, winnings, etc per day before having to claim it. But we will see and I will post an update to that question later on.


So where do I stand. I guess a that I am standing still at start. I have had no readers, but will continue to post as I do. I will continue to try and generate traffic and oncehings actually get (if) things actually get rolling I will post updates on total donation. But for today, total donations are $1.00 - from myself!

My last thought is that I will try to make some videos that I can link from here and youtube to try and generate viewers.

Well that's it for today. Maybe tomorrow I will be at $2.00....who knows..anyhting is possible.

First day!

This is my first formal entry into my new blog. I have been thinking about this for some time but just recently was able to clarify in my mind how I wanted to go about this. I think the best place is to start by telling people a little about me.

I am a 41 year old school social worker. I am a father of 3 and my wife is also an educator. We are like most other people in the world. We live on meager means. We try to provide the best experiences and opportunities for our children and we have a dream of being rich. Really my dream has always been simple. I would like to say just one time "I am a millionaire".

I work doing several odd jobs. In the summer and throughout the year I do handyman services. I help a friend with his tiling business. I mow lawns, I shovel snow all in the hopes of getting just a little bit ahead in this rat race we call life. Is it working. Partially is the best I can answer. Whenever we feel like we are starting to move a little ahead, life throws us a curve ball.

I have looked at many of the so called get rich quick schemes on the Internet. Direct marketing, MLM, etc. I just don't see myself as a salesman. I have a hard time trying to convince someone that they need something just so I can get ahead. Besides that, a lot of those get rich quick schemes, scams , what have you, cost a lot of money. Money that I just don't have.

So where does that leave me. It leaves me here. I want to be able to say, at least once in my life, that I am a millionaire. That I have a million dollars in my bank account. Hence this social experiment. How do I get there. I know I won't get there by myself, and that is where you all come in. There are are an estimated 1.4 billion internet users world wide. I only need 1 million of you to help. Want to hear my plan read on. But first let me say this is really not about getting rich, but an experiment to prove whether or not someone can become an internet millionaire in 1 year or less. My experiment also differs from get rich schemes in one important area. I don't intend to keep most of the money. Within 5 days of reaching my goal, I intend to donate $750,000 to a nationally recognized charity. I will have been able to say I was a millionaire, and I will be able to help needy people at the same time.

I don't know if anyone will really help. But think of this. Each of us can spare $1.00. Often we drop coins, or waste money on things that will definitely not help others. How much can $1.00 hurt you? The other question becomes, how much can $1.00 help someone else? I think of this story of a man walking along a beach. There are starfish littered for hundreds of yards. The man is slowly walking along, picking them up one at a time, and throwing them back into the sea. Another man walks up and asks the first, why are you bothering to do that. You can't possibly make a difference with all of the starfish on the beach. The first man bent over, picked up another starfish and threw it into the sea. He turned to the second man and said "I just made a difference to that one."

My point is simple. Even the smallest act can result in a big difference for someone. I should say that regardless of whether or not I reach the $1,000,000.00 mark, 75% of all donations will be donated at the end of year long experiment.

So do you want to be a part of this experiment? Think about it. Watch it grow and let's see what we can accomplish together.
